Wedding Themes

If you have a specific interest or have something that you would like to incorporate into your wedding, you can do so with a wedding theme. This is a great way to express yourself and to add personality to the party.

Then you can take your theme and add it to virtually every aspect of your wedding day. Your theme can run through the attire, to the wedding vows, and even through the music and reception.

But be aware of how much you are using your theme. Too much can cause it to be tacky. Just pay attention to the whole picture.

Medieval Themes

Do you love the romance and the tradition of earlier times? If you do, then incorporate the theme into your reception.

One way to do this is to have a costume party and ask your guests to dress to it. As the couple, you can go with attire that reflects the theme by using clothing reminiscent from the time period. You can rent your costumes that will fit the theme to keep costs low.

You can carry this theme into other aspects too. For example, the food and the entertainment can also be medieval themed. In your meal, you can use the traditional multi-course meal of the time.

You can provide entertainment like musicians and troubadours to perform after each course. You can even have your guests speaking in a medieval language during the ceremony and other times during the reception.

The Fairy Tale Wedding

This can be a popular theme because many girls dream of a fairy tale wedding from the time they are young children hearing fairy tales. It can be a simple theme and one that works well in each aspect of the wedding.

First, the attire is the most important feature. A form fitting bodice with a tulle skirt is very much like a fairy tale. This type of dress is easy to find in the wedding shops too. For example, you will find it called a Cinderella Gown. Let them know that this is what you are looking for and they will help you to find it.

As for the groom, he can go as Prince Charming by wearing a white tuxedo with tails.

This theme can feature other aspects such as a horse drawn carriage and a ballroom dance as the first dance of the couple. In fact this could be very elegant as well.

Under The Sea

In this common theme, the ceremony and reception can be held at a beach.

For attire, you want the bride to have a simple white dress and maybe even no shoes. For the groom, he should wear a casual linen suit -- even shorts with a jacket can be used.

In decorations, you could go with a wide range of things. For example, a centerpiece idea could be a glass bowl that is filled with seashells. This is a great way to simply add the theme of the wedding into the details of it. They could cover tables with a blue table cloth that is ocean colored and a layer of fishing net can go over it. For a favor, you could give away a simple seashell soap design.

There are many wedding themes that can be used. There is no rule that says that you have to have a theme, but if you do use them you can actually create a more memorable wedding. Use every aspect of the wedding from the entertainment to the attire to the food within your theme. You can do this subtly or with much to do. Just do not go overboard with the theme and your wedding will be amazing.
